THIS SITE IS DEDICATED TO EVERY NORTHROADER WHO HAS BRAVED THE HUMILIATION OF TRAVELING OR LIVING ON THE NORTHROAD.

Northroader. What the hell is a “Northroader”? I say it’s all in the name. For instance, a Redneck. Everyone knows what a “Redneck” is. Or rather, everyone has preconceived ideas of what a “Redneck” is.  But few know what a “Northroader is. Unless you live in Alaska.   Are they people to be feared? Are they dangerous folks?  Why do folks look as if you’ve committed a mortal sin when you say you live off the “Northroad”? Is there some kind of monster who lives on the “Northroad?” Do you dare travel the “Northroad?” Take a ride at you own risk

Six years ago, while visiting a Bar in Homer, (the east end road), my husband and I were drinking beer and sharing stories with locals when we casually mentioned we were going to host at Captain Cook State Park for the summer. Everyone that heard this slowly backed away from us, got the most feared looks on their faces, and said, “your going up there where the “Northroaders” are!” Well, needless to say, since we had never been up the “Northroad”,  I said, “What the heck is a “Northroader?” In unison, and with determined pointed fingers, they said, “Northroaders are scary people.  They take the law into their own hands. They use blue tarps and duct tape on everything.” I  smiled and said, “Ah hell, then we’ll get along just fine because we’re from Missouri and we’re called “Rednecks” and everyone knows a “Redneck” knows how to use blue tarps and duct tape!”

So, there you go. It’s common knowledge we’ve come to find out that “Northroaders” and “Rednecks” share the same lusts.

. Neither have to deal with law enforcement often. They have a way of taking care of things on their own.
